PTERODACTYLThe pterodactyl is a flying reptile having wings of leathery skin with a span of up to 20 feet. These sharp, beady eyed beasts are intelligent and are able to communicate telepathically. However, they are incredibly afraid of wild monsters. Pterodactyl are, on the whole, rather rare.
Sometimes these beasts are targets for archers, which is unfortunate because, as seen in 966 GUE, they can be beneficial to humans. In that year a humble peasant found a pterodactyl in the Miznia Marshlands that could be summoned by a whistle, and would agree to fly the peasant anywhere on three, but only three occasions. Because of this instance, it is believed that platypi use have tamed pterodactyls as mounts to make up for their lack of winged flight. Another popular sighting was in 883 GUE, when a pack of the beasts were seen taking nest on the flat top of the statue of Dimwit Flathead in Fublio Valley.
During the Great Monster Uprising of the Second Age of Magic, pterodactyls were reported in the following regions: White Cliffs Beach, Flathead Fjord, The Gray Mountains Asylum, Mirror Lake, Antharian Caves, Tidal Flats, Discipline Beach, Grubbo Hills, Mithicus Mountains, Egreth Castle, The Lonely Mountain, and the G.U.E. Tech Training Grounds in the Ethereal Plane of Atrii.
