HUNGUS
Part sheep, part hippopotamus, the hungus builds its nest in jungle
swamps such as the Miznia Jungle and other hot, squishy places.
Normally docile and eager to avoid conflict or activity of any kind,
the hungus is fiercely clannish, and will instantly charge at anything
that dares to threaten its kin. Take caution in hungus territory, as
they are known to be easily prone to rabies.
Three products are commonly made from the hungus: hungus stew, hungus
lard and violin
strings. These lesser quality strings are made from hungus-gut, which,
though economical, has a pungent scent which many find distracting.
During the
Great Monster Uprising of the
Second Age of Magic, rabid hungi were reported in the following regions:
Miznia Marshlands,
Miznia Jungle,
Mithicus Mountains,
The Lonely Mountain, and the
G.U.E. Tech Training Grounds in the
Ethereal Plane of Atrii.
TRIVIA: There is debate on whether the plural for hungus is "hunguses"
or "hungi".
The hungus is the inspiration for the board game "Hungi Hungi Hungus."
