SHALLOW
SEA
The Shallow Sea is a great inland body of water, surrounded by low
liffs and sharp crags. It is connected to the
Great Sea solely at the
southeastern corner by a single canal that extends southward like an
ever-narrowing finger as the eastern coast pinches inward. Tall spires
and jagged pinnacles of stone rise up randomly from the surface. They
glimmer whitely, covered with guano, for great flocks of all
spices of birds have made the spires their homes.
Sea serpents may
occassionally be seen rippling amongst the spires. Legend claims a tall
man could walk across the sea’s width without every wetting his hair.
No doubt many have drowned trying to prove the legend. The western
shore of the Shallow Sea belonged to the
dragons.
