FRIPP

Fripp lived on a mesa north of the Bor River with other his other fairy kind, including their leader Xina. He was part of a sacred and magical fairy council circle. The fairies slept during the daylight hours and were watched over by both a lum ox and Keeto the bird. While asleep, they disguise themselves in the form a mushroom which is known as gumpwort fungus. Since the head of the fungus are the wings of the fairy (the stump being the rest of the body), the ignorant do not realize that they are depriving a fairy of flight when picking the head.

In c. 957-966 GUE, Ryker, seeking the gumpwort fungus to cure Acia's poisoned condition, defeated the lum ox and ignorantly ripped off the head of the mushroom, unaware that they were Fripp's wings. When the day turned to dusk, Fripp found he was wingless. Xina and the winged fairies left to find the fiend who defeated the lum ox. Wingless, Fripp could not join the search. His special friend, Keeto, told him that Ryker had stolen his wings and driven the lum ox over the cliff. The bird was Fripp's wings as the two set off on their quest for the villain. It was many long days before they found Ryker, and the result of this encounter is unknown.
