Thanks to lord_skylark here from the forums he has taken the time to put together a very comprehensive Encyclopedia, so be sure to check it out!! Amazing job lord_skylark, patiently awaiting the updates.

This is awesome! It is wonderful to have all the facts in one place like this. While I don't mind the Irondune encyclopedia, I view it as fanfiction and wish it were marked a little more clearly as such.

I can't wait to see the History of Zork uploaded. :)

This site is great and thanks for the efforts. I haven't played the early games in so many years they are almost new again. And I can get them out to smart kids who never heard of them. Just did in fact.

I haven't played any of the graphics versions except RTZ, also many years ago, but will play the (ie Nemesis) as I figure out how to get and install them.

Since we are trying to get the Zork Library clan in Legends of Zork off the ground, is it possible for the link to the TZL Compendium shared among the clan's message board and the chat? Also faithful members of the Zork Library should start to join the clan, it will hopefully strengthen the clan, and eventually will also bring more users to the Zork Library as well. I can invite lots of people to the clan in LoZ once I have the ability.

First off, this is my first post so I'd be remiss not to say that TZL has been tremendously useful since to me since I found it earlier this year. I wish I'd found it much sooner! But... what happened to all the content at http://thezorklibrary.com/history/ ? It seems to just be an empty directory now. I really hope you've got a backup and will be able to get it restored soon.

It is arranged in a way that you can find the information if you're familiar with Zork and you know what to look for. It is like a dictionary of a foreign tongue, you have it, but you'd need to know for example how the word "door" is spelled in order to find information about it. You can also find some information here in the board and I'm sure if you search for it you might find some of it.

So yes, it would be helpful if you are familiar with several Zork games to be able to find what you need. Fortunately if you check the Encyclopedia Frobozzica's link http://thezorklibrary.com/history/00-encyclopedia.html you can look for words you're familiar with and find additional information found in other Zork games as well, all fused together into a full article.

Unfortunately not even the real published Encyclopedia Frobozzica was complete, instead they included what pertained to each game. The more games they made the more pieces of Zork lore were added in every edition of them that eventually game enthusiasts put together to form what is know as Zork history today. Lordskylark has done a pretty good job putting those things together however.

It has been tough I believe, because there are a few little things that just don't seem to agree with how to history goes with games like Legends of Zork for example. We're just hoping Activision wakes up one day and releases a really cool insanely great Zork game to continue where Return to Zork left off =/
