BETA TEST PROVIDES KEY FEEDBACK

Starting in August, the Zork team relied on the services of beta testers to help balance and mold our game. Zork Grand Inquisitor is a large and complex game and sometimes we need fresh opinions to judge our progress and point out the areas of the game that need a bit more explaining or clarifying.

Beta testing is an art rather than a science. First we have to make a plan. On ZGI, we have tested the game in batches as areas were ready to be scrutinized.

Next, we work as hard as possible to make the areas that will be sent out to testers as solid and close to the final design as possible.

Then comes the hard part - we wait for feedback. It can be quite nerve-racking to find the puzzle you thought to be perfect labeled impossible to solve. Often the ones you are worried about are the ones that are fine. You have to sit through the feedback and try not to cringe as your hard work is judged by all.

However, when it's all done, the game is better than ever. Thanks to all of our beta testers - you helped make our game great.
