GI (Game Informer...not Grand Inquisitor)

On page 130 of the June 2003 issue is a thing about text-adventures and Zork. And I thought these gaming mags had no class when it came to old school. Now may be a great time to send something in to GI, but we should probably wait until we are farther into the THE project. I'm sure they would at least be slightly interested in our game.

EDIT: http://www.theforbiddenlands.com/zork.jpg

If anyone's interested I'll put the other page up.

Sorry it's sideways though, you may want to jump into an image editor and flip it. I'll post the rest of it when I have more time.

I knew I forgot to post about something.  I had read this article as well, as I have a subscription to GI.  It is a very good read for Zork fans, and even gives some history of Infocom.

Okay, I made the first page more readable (the bottom was cut off as well): http://www.theforbiddenlands.com/zork001.jpg

And scanned the second page: http://www.theforbiddenlands.com/zork002.jpg

So...do you guys think this is a good mag to advertise in later...maybe include some sort of demo so they can put screenshots up or include a disc. Just my thoughts.

It sounds like a good start to me, however we aren't advertising at all and look how many members and people still come here. Lets lay and wait. :-}

I said 'advertise in later' not necessarily right now...we don't have enough stuff...

The rec.games.interactive-fiction newsgroup is a good, free place to advertize the game when the time is right.  They don't allow off-topic advertizing, but everyone there is very encouraging about any new amature-produced game.  A lot of Zork fans too.

Gosh.  Sorry for the multiple posts.  I kept getting messages that the server was overloaded and to try again later.  I got no indication that the posts were made.  Sorry.

I have a question about copyrights.  If there is no permission for creating the new game, using the Zork name, etc. is there a possiblity of getting sued over this?  This hasn't bothered me until you guys starting talking about advertising the game in GI magazine, or wherever.  I have had it in my mind that as the game progresses, there may be a gaming company interested enough to persue that matter.  I don't know how this stuff works.

I am not worried, simply because we aren't going to be charging for it and its fan made. They really should go after all the people writing Zork IFs and such then, besides just us if they did.
