Re: Scotland gets Awesome TV [Sort Zork Related-ish]

Yep, this is a real-live, honest to goodness call-in show featuring an actual human who acts like a parser as a host. :-) -EDIT- Actually...actually, now that I look at it again, everyone is calling it a sketch on something called "Limmy's Show" on Youtube. Methinks my friend in England di...

Re: Scotland gets Awesome TV [Sort Zork Related-ish]

I have some friends in Scotland and England that I've mentioned this to now, and their opinion of the show seems to be that it's a scam to take advantage of drunken insomniacs or something. Honestly, though, I kind of expect it to be that, what with it being a pay-by-the-minute phone line. Honestly,...

Scotland gets Awesome TV [Sort Zork Related-ish]

The article may be making fun of it, but I'll admit it to you: I want to be able to watch this regularly. The host even acts like a parser.

Re: Zork rereleases at Good Old Games (GOG.com)

Oh, wow. That's great. I need to pick that up. I can still "play" RTZ on my updated PC, but it frequently skips all of the in-game movies and just prints an error message about not being able to play the movie. I wonder if it's the version where you automatically disembark after the raft r...

Re: Enlightenment

Maybe they're expecting someone to cosplay and act out the wedding between Lucy Flathead and Antharia Jack.

Walkthrough

Anyone who needs a walkthrough to the first Zork Game, but wants to listen rather than read...well, here ya be.

And you know what, honestly? Even if you *don't* need a walkthrough, this is well worth listening to. 8)

Re: Beyond Zork endgame help please?

Are you sure it won't work at the Shady Wall, though? I recall it being doable at either entrance. Did I play a different version of the game than everyone else, or is my memory faulty?

Re: Enlightenment

Yeah, the quail joke is one of my favorite parts of the game. It pulls you along a fairly deductive line of reasoning and sets you up to walk right into the punchline. Regarding footnotes: I found the footnotes to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the game, though they can be a bit tough to real...

Re: Beyond Zork endgame help please?

If memory serves, the first mirror should either be just outside the cave or just inside the cave (note: there are actually two entrances to the cave in different parts of the game world.) The beams of light go in a straight line until they strike a surface, such as a wall. You'll want to place a ne...

Re: Enlightenment

I'm kinda surprised to learn that you've not played it yet, GL. It's been one of my favorites for years. Glad I reviewed it, then. :-)

And as for the beta, well...you'll be playing a different beta soon...

Enlightenment

I'm going to review one of the non-canon Zork games, since they're probably less well known. Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to put forth a game called Enlightenment. Enlightenment is a game set in the Zork universe and stands as an example of how a game can be simple and short while at the same ...

Re: The Zork Library in real-time 3D

I'm sorry to report that it doesn't work for me. Probably because I use dial-up.

Which is a huge shame, because I love the idea. :-)

"Chuck" Brings Zork to Prime Time

Anyone else watch the first episode of NBC's "Chuck" show? I had to watch it.  I was planning on creating my own "comedy/drama", and when I heard about Chuck I knew it would either a) Create a market for my show b) Ruin the market for my show, or c) be something different.  At th...

Re: Infocom/Zork collections

I have pretty much everything I'd ever want, except I'm still missing a Zorkmid, and I'm still missing all four of the Infocomics (including the two Infocomics that relate to Zork.)

Re: Is the Zork fandom dying?

I don't think the fandom is dying.  I think the fandom is just diversifying.

I mean, Zork is my all time favorite series, ever since I first played Zork I at the age of 7.  But I need to put some time between playing through the games so that they can stay fresh each time through.
